Before jumping into Buying an ATM Machine we suggest you do some research. ATM Depot is here to help. We want you to become a well informed ATM Equipment buyer prior to Buying ATM Machines.
Looking to Buy an ATM Machine or two?
Buying ATM Machines is not something you should rush into or be taken lightly. This is not a get rich quick business but is a good way to produce passive income. Buying ATM Machines and operating them in your own business or as a Vending machine business is a great way to earn a residual passive income.
ATM Machines have come way down in price over the last decade and many new models have come onto the market. The original ATM Machine manufacturer that is still around from the 90’s is Triton Systems. Another manufacturer we think very highly of is Tranax ATM now made by Hantle manufacturing. With the new Genmega ATM equipment you can get 24 hour through-the-wall ATM equipment at incredible prices.
Trition ATMs have good resale value should you ever need to sell your ATM machines, and they have an excellent life expectancy of 7 – 10 years. Although a few hundred dollars more thant some other manufacturers a new Triton or a certified refurbished Triton ATM is a good investment and can pay for itself in a relatively short period if put in the right location.
Hantle ATM Equipment (formerly Tranax) aka Mini-Bank machines are also very reliable and appeal due to the historically trouble free operation. Combined with the pricing, Hantle ATM machines are amongst the best value for owner operators.
If you’re looking for through-the-wall ATM equipment, two of the best TTW machines are the Tranax or Genmega GT3000.
We also see many used ATM Machines on ebay and other auction and classified web sites. The issue with purchasing a used ATM from a 3rd party not in the ATM business is you risk purchasing a boat anchor. Chances are if the ATM is under $1,000 you’re buying trouble unless you know what to look for. Some ATMs require expensive upgrades to be in ADA (American Disabilities Act) Compliance. Others may just be outdated and no longer allowed on the processing platform due to software security patch upgrades are no longer supported or hardware security vulnerability.
- If you purchase a used or refurbished ATM make sure it has a warranty.
- Make sure the ATM is 3DES (Triple DES) compliant.
- 3DES is an encryption process in the key pad and firmware that protects the consumers PIN number from being stolen when the ATM is dialing the ATM Processor and requesting a transaction. 3DES became a requirement several years ago so we are seeing older machines non-compliant machines that are very cheap. These ATMs may require expensive upgrades to operate.
- When shopping for a new ATM Machine expect to pay $2000 – $3000 for a good free standing ATM machine and $4,000 – $8,000 for a good outdoor through-the-wall unit (TTW ATM Equipment without deposits or fancy other functions).
Once you learn about the various models and are confident you are buying an ATM machine for the right reasons and you buy the right model for your needs, you will want to learn a little about ATM processing and how the ATM machine business works if you have not done so already.
